Martha Medlin King
Owner, Certified Personal Trainer, & Licensed Massage Therapist |
 |
An AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) certified personal trainer and licensed massage therapist, I have worked in the Washington-area health and sports medicine arena for more than 25 years. "After guiding clients at another Fitness Together location," says King, "I was impressed by the great results they were having and how much I enjoyed getting them there. I knew I had to own a Fitness Together."
I have always loved being active and participating in sports. The highlight of my personal fitness journey was running the Marine Corps Marathon. That's not to say there haven't been obstacles along the way that could have sidelined my love of physical fitness. But learning what the human body is telling us if we listen has kept me in the game!
I firmly believe in looking at the whole person when addressing health and fitness goals. I love the human body and its amazing design and capabilities. Designing workouts that complement and challenge your body while achieving your personal goals is at the heart of my training philosophy.
Maintaining health and fitness is a lifelong personal journey. Helping you put fitness and health into your life and increasing your quality of life is a thrill for me.

Head Trainer. Certified Personal Trainer

I was introduced to physical fitness at an early age through school and youth sports teams. Whether it was playing competitive basketball, soccer, or baseball, or enjoying intramural football and track, I've experienced firsthand the benefits of a consistent exercise routine. These benefits - physical, social and psychological - are what I want to pass on to the individuals I train.
Certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), I have assisted a variety of individuals reach their fitness goals, whether its rehab from an injury, improving overall health, losing weight, looking and feeling better, or sports-specific conditioning. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping others build a path to better health. It's never too early or too late to start the journey.
In my free time I enjoy practicing what I preach by doing some sort of physical activity such as strength training or playing basketball among others.

I am certified by the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) as a personal trainer, and am a 2006 graduate of Shaw University. I obtained my B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems. My passion for fitness led me to change my career path from information technology to personal training. I enjoy helping my clients achieve their realistic fitness goals and challenging them at every workout session. I believe that exercise should be fun, so I design workouts for each client that include a dynamic mix of cardio, strength training, and endurance exercises.
