Martha Medlin King
Owner, Certified Personal Trainer, & Licensed Massage Therapist
Fitness Together - Georgetown |
 |
I am an AFAA certified personal trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist who has been involved in the health profession and sports medicine fields in the Washington, DC area for over 25 years. After working in a Fitness Together for a year, I was impressed by the incredible results that my clients were having and how much fun it was getting them there. I knew that I had to own a Fitness Together!
I have always loved being active and participating in sports. Throughout my academic career, I played and coached numerous sports. The highlight of my personal fitness journey was running the Marine Corps Marathon. That’s not to say there haven’t been obstacles along the way that could have sidelined my love of physical fitness. But never giving up, and learning more and more about what the human body is telling us if we listen, has kept me in the game!
I firmly believe in looking at the whole person when addressing health and fitness goals. Health and fitness are not a race but a lifelong personal journey with many components. I love the human body and its amazing design and capabilities. Designing workouts that compliment and challenge your body’s unique design while achieving your personal goals is at the heart of my training philosophy.
What you put into your life is what you get out. Helping you put fitness and health into your life and increasing your quality of life is a thrill for me. “Do what you love and love what you do”. And I do!

| I was introduced to physical fitness at an early age thru school and youth sports teams. Whether it was playing basketball, soccer, or baseball competitively for a number of years or intramural football and track in school I've experienced first hand the benefits of a consistent exercise routine. It's these benefits, albeit physical, social, or pyschological that I want to pass on to the individuals that I train.
Certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), I enjoy helping a variety of individuals reach their fitness goals, whether its rehab from an injury, improving overall health, losing weight, looking and feeling better, or sports specific needs. "I enjoy helping others build a path to better health. It's never too early or late to start the journey."
In my free time I enjoy practicing what I preach by doing some sort of physical activity such as strength training or playing basketball among others.

I am an ACSM certified personal trainer that also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University. While attending GMU, I complimented my psychology studies with classes in exercise science, anatomy, and physiology. After building upon my coursework in these areas and expanding my knowledge of the human body, I decided to conquer my lifelong weight problem and get into shape the correct way. I began working out regularly and eating healthy and was able to reach my goals. Once I started to witness changes in my own body, I realized that I wanted to help others start their journey toward a healthy lifestyle. Growing up I was always active in sports, trained in gymnastics from the age of 3, but with my previous athletic ability I discovered Cheerleading to be my passion. I have lived in the Washington, D.C. area for over ten years and have become a die-hard Redskins fan. Let’s take the first step together towards the first day of the rest of your life! |

I am a NPTI Certified Personal Trainer and a 2006 graduate of Shaw University. I obtained my B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems. My passion for fitness led me to change my career path from Information Technology and become a certified personal trainer with the National Personal Training Institute. I enjoy helping my clients achieve their realistic fitness goals and challenging them at every workout session. I believe that exercise should be fun, therefore I specifically design individual workouts for each client that include cardio, strength training, and endurance exercises. When I am not training I stay active within my church, community, and fraternity. I look forward to helping you embark on the journey to a healthier new you!

Holistic Health Counselor

Who said healthy had to be boring? My focus is on making healthy foods quick and easy to prepare and totally delicious to eat. As a certified holistic health counselor, I've been trained in various dietary theories, and I help my clients wade through the mixed messages to discover what works for their bodies and their lifestyles. When I'm not at work, you'll probably find me roaming the aisles at Whole Foods or a local farmer's market looking for new food ideas and inspiration. |

I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I received training in many different dietary theories and learned what I believe is the most important fact about nutrition: that there is no one diet that works for everyone. I believe that the human body is designed to be healthy when provided with the right food, exercise, personal relationships and work/life balance. As your Health Counselor, I will work with you to decipher the messages your body is sending you and to use that information to figure out which foods and lifestyle choices help you look and feel your absolute best.
